Croisière Chp. 12 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Croisière

                A loud horn blew on the dock. I grabbed a hold of Zoe’s bag while dragging a cart to carry the rest of our luggage.

                “You have the tickets, right?” I asked Zoe, who had her huge sunglasses on, and looked at the huge ship in front of her.

                “Yup.” She yelled over the crowd. I nodded back.

                “That horn was the second to final. We should get on board!”

                “Okay!” She grabbed her small bag and walked ahead of me. We got to the ramp and walked up it.

                “Can I see your tickets, please?” Asked a man with the ship’s uniform on. Zoe handed him our tickets and he tipped his hat.

                “So your friend is the captain of the ship?” She asked. I smiled and she knew what the answer was. “Knew it.”

                We walked down the corridors till we found our room. Zoe used the key and opened the door. The bright red walls matched the dark green carpet of the floor. The sheets on the king sized bed were the same exact color, knowing this was the theme of the room. There was a small circular window on the right side of the room.

                “Wow…” Zoe whispered and smiled.

                “You like it? This is one of the finest cruise lines there are. Only one problem, it goes to the UK, but we will find another way to Italy. I went inside and set our bags in a corner. I looked at the room from a 360 degree angle. It was perfect. I lay down on the bed and put my hands behind my head. Zoe sat next to than laid.

                “I love.”

                “I knew you would.” I kissed her for a moment than got up. “Shall we go see the dining room, Ms. Albridge?”

                “I would love to.”

                We walked down to the huge dining room that was bigger than a normal sized house. A giant crystal chandelier hung down from the ceiling.

                “Oh my god…” Zoe’s mouth hung open. I laughed and kissed her cheek.

                “So, I’m guessing this could be like a rescue mission and a vacation?”

                “Definatly…” She looked around while I followed her. She stared at the slot room with all the guests in suits. “It’s a wonder how this thing really floats with all this equipment and people…”

                “Yeah, I wonder the same thing myself.” I smiled. “I bet there’s more thing on the top deck.”

                “Let’s go!” She grabbed my arm and ran the way there. A huge swimming pool with little kids inside was the first thing on the deck. I stared at the surfing pool in awe. Zoe grabbed my arm.

                “We so need to try that in a bit…” She smiled. I laughed and agreed.

                “Shall we go back to the room?” I asked. She stared at me for a moment than silently agreed.

The same old room was back in my mind, the colors, everything.

“I want to check something out real fast. Can you hold on?” She asked. I nodded and she walked out of the room. I looked around and saw our suitcases. I walked towards it and opened a small carry-on bag that I brought, inside, a tiny box with a diamond ring. I closed my eyes and put it inside my pocket. I didn’t know when the perfect time to ask her was, but I had one idea…

She walked back in the room, smiling.

“I went to check out the room at the end of the hallway, it’s some pool room.” She laughed. I thought of other random things to keep the ring farthest from my mind.

“How about we dress up and go to the dining room? We could find a load of stuff to do there!” I smiled.

“I’d love to!” Let me just find a presentable dress that…” She stopped. I knew the name she was going to say. Olivia gave her.

“We will get her back.” I held her hands and smiled. That calmed her and she turned back to her bag and ran in the bathroom. I sighed in relief that I kept that picture far in my head.

                We walked down the stair case to the gigantic dining room once again. I smiled up at Zoe who looked as beautiful as ever. Her red sparkling dress clung to her body with her chandelier diamond earrings and Stilettos.

                “Did I tell you, you look breath taking?” She laughed as I scouted to find a table.

                “Yes, like 300 times.” She spoke as I led her to a table in the middle of the room. I noticed some people staring at us while we sat that I rolled my eyes to it. I skimmed my pocket to feel a box without thinking of what it is.

                “Hello” A waiter came up. “Can I help you this fine evening?” She offered. I closed my eyes and looked up at him.

                “With one thing.” Zoe looked at me and I winked back. “It’s kind of a special occasion.” I hinted about my pocket and the waiter knew. He motioned to the pianist to stop playing and the crowd grew silent from the sudden stop of music. I looked at Zoe who looked shocked, had no idea what I was doing.

                I bent down on one knee and she put her hands to her mouth. I recited the words over and over in my head and she knew the exact thing from that.

                “Zoe Gabrielle Albridge, will you marry me?” I asked. She smiled and jumped up to see everyone staring. I placed the diamond ring delicately on her finger. She turned and kissed me.

                “Yes!” She kissed me again, this time more passionate. “I love you so much.” She smiled and buried her face in my jacket. I heard the applause in the background, but all I could feel was the love of my life in my arms.

                “I love you too…”

Note Chp. 11 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Note

                We drove around for hours trying to scent out her trail. I felt Zoe’s anger subside after midnight has passed.

                “Now what?” I asked. She looked at me.

                “Let go home…” The only thing she could say. I stared at the road going past us, looking for the hidden driveway. I finally found it, pulling up as fast as I could.

                “Why did I have to… to yell at her?” She asked, obviously rhetorical.

                “Forget it. She probably just took a drive. Do you honestly think she would stay mad at you?” I asked myself the same thing when she noticed what I just said.

                “See, you don’t know either.” She jumped out of the car without even opening the door and went inside the house. I still sat inside the car, thinking to myself what had just happened. I replayed the moments of the argument and Venetia’s visit. I had found nothing reasonable in the conversation. Finally, I got out of the car and turned on the alarm for no reason.

                The house was still the same as when we had left it. My coat pulled over the dining room chair and I slumped down in the couch. I noticed a small piece of paper in the book on the coffee table and grabbed it. Olivia’s scent was on it.

                “Zoe!” I called. She didn’t come. I got up and walked to her room to find her sitting in the middle of the floor. “Zoe, look” I put the note in front of her and sat down. She grabbed it and opened it.

            Zoe,

       I have known you forever. You have been practically like my sister. You don’t know how hard it was to keep this huge secret from you and how I had to. This argument made me realize how our relationship really is and how it’s been. I will miss you, Zoe, and Chancellor and seeing you both together. I will miss how I buy stuff for you and the look on your face when you open that Abercrombie and Fitch bag and see the preppy clothes inside and how you helped me in Rouvre. I am so sorry it came to this. I will be back home. You don’t need to find me, because I am sure you won’t and if you do, you will get hurt. I am with people who will show no mercy, Zoe. I want to say thank you. Thank you so much for being you, for helping me, for being the most important thing in my entire life. You will always be on my mind when I am with my sister, and how much I hurt you when I had to lie. Those words that you had said, really stuck to me. It gave me the encourage to go our separate ways. Well what else can I say? Nothing. I love you like a sister, Zoe. Have a great life with Chancellor. Maybe even get married someday like I know you will. I am so sad to see that I won’t be there to give you a hug. It’s just time, Zoe. To go our separate ways…

                           Love always,

                                                Olivia.

                I looked at Zoe’s face as she read the note. Her face twisted into a frown. If she were able to cry, I am sure she would have busted into it.

                Zoe’s expression changed, Anger.

                “Do you know a friend to take us to Italy?” I still sat, shocked at her words. “Do you think I would let my friend leave me? Hell no. Do you, Chance?”

                “Well…” I stood up and paced. I remembered one friend. “There’s one…” I looked at her. “How do you feel about ships?”

Se Trouvre Chp.10 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Se Trouvre

                The room was silent after Venetia’s timely retreat. I felt I should say something, but knew it wasn’t the time. Zoe pulled her hand from mine.

                “Everything that you said to me! About you being a new vampire, about you being born in France, and even your own damn name were a lie!! How dare you even lie to me! How you even kept it from me. You locked it in the back of your mind, so I couldn’t find out. So I could never find out. Well guess what?!? I did! And yet you never realize that your own sister would come back to see you, to try and get you back. You are better off going. Maybe you won’t lie to her but sure as hell lie to the person who cares about you the most!” I grabbed Zoe by the waist, trying to get her to calm down.

                “How was I supposed to tell you!!? Say, Oh I’m from a clan that slaughters mankind? Yeah the hell I would, Zoe. You have kept secrets from me and I’m sure you still do!!” She yelled back.

                “At least some hint instead of all lies!”

                “I don’t need this.” Olivia walked into her room and grabbed her purse.

                “Where are you going??!” Zoe shouted from the living room. I rubbed her shoulders and whispered to her to stop yelling, she ignored.

                “You said I am better off where I am from, then maybe that’s where I will be treated a hell of a lot better than here!” She walked out the door and started her Blue Accord.

                “Leave then.” Zoe whispered before she heard Olivia’s car sped down the driveway and she turned to me, the sadness on her face overwhelmed me. She buried her face into my chest. “What have I done?”

Venetia Chp.9 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Venetia

                The roaring of the Miata, echoed across the quiet forest. The winding road of the driveway seemed like it took eternity for the sports car to climb. Finally, a small one story house appeared out of the darkness with a living room light on. When the house was close enough, I shut the car off and got out. Zoe and I approached the door to see Olivia had already opened it.

                “Hey guys. Come in.” She was not in her usual peppy mood. We walked in and I leaned against the couch. “Do you guys need anything?” She asked. I looked at Zoe. Her face had the expression of pissed on it.

                “Why don’t I ask Varanese?” Olivia stood still; Everyone in the room froze to notice there were not just 3 of us.

                “Hello, sister. May I come in? Venetia asked with a grimace on her face. “Well, if you won’t answer your own sibling, I might as well make myself at home.” She placed herself in a chair in the kitchen. “Hello, Young Chancellor! This must be your mate! I see she is very gorgeous.” She flashed a smile at Zoe. “You must be Ms. Albridge. I’ve heard many tales about you.” I stared, wondering how she knew. “Oh you don’t know?” I can read peoples expressions to tell what they are really thinking.” She answered my question.

                “What do you want, Venetia?” Olivia startled.

                “To see my favorite sister, of course. I haven’t heard from you since you ran away from your duties.” Olivia looked at Zoe who then looked back at Venetia.

                “How did you know where to find her?” I asked. Venetia appeared questioned.

                “It’s not that hard to find my own sister. If you had one, I’m pretty sure you’d know. Maybe compare to like Ms. Albridge, if you couldn’t find her. You’d hunt her down.” She laughed. “But this isn’t the reason. I have missed you very much, Varanese. Why don’t you ever visit?” She twisted around in her chair.

                “Why would I visit you. After everything you’ve done. After everything you’ve ruined. You’ve killed people. That is not what our father would have wanted!” Olivia clutched her fists. I stood next to Zoe who grabbed my hand, her mind motioned into mine. What are we suppose to do? She questioned to me. I replied by my silence, who then she knew, I had absolutely no idea.

                “Now now,” Venetia walked up to Olivia. “Why yell at me? You know I’ve done everything that father would have done, and more. I’ve had our clan stronger than ever!”

                “You’ve had damned to the gods! How is that stronger? You left me to die in the Rouvre in France! How the hell am I to ever forgive you?!” She yelled. Zoe grabbed my hand tighter. That’s where Zoe had found her.

                “You will forgive me by seeing what your opportunities are at home!” She smiled. “Oh sister, we have everything, and even more then you have here. All our servants are there and we both can rule together. Maybe you might like that sense…” Olivia stood motionless.

                “Leave.” Was the only thing Olivia spoke.

                “I can see you need time to think. I will leave you, for now.” She walked out the door. “And young Chancellor, I will see you soon…”

Dîner Chp. 8 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Dîner

I felt the tight pressure around my neck as I adjusted the black and blue tie. After thinking it looked presumable, I patted the tie down. A slight knocking accrued at the door.

                “Entrance!” I joked. Zoe stepped into the room with a short black dress, a small handbag, and her hair in curls. “Wow…” Was all I could speak.

                “Too much?” She placed her red stiletto heels on her feet.

                “No… you… look… wow…” She laughed.

                “Wow is some new describing word? I think I like it.” I smiled at her.

                “I’m pretty sure you will find some answers tonight, love.” I turned around to pat my hair down again, feeling her arms on my shoulders and her face appearing in the mirror in front of me.

                “I hope…” She leaned her head down as I turned around.

                “We will.” Her hands wrapped around my waist as I kissed her forehead. I looked back into her eyes. “I’ve known this guy. He’s got to have some answers. He’s had before.” I saw her lips crack into a smile.

                “I trust you. You have all of those underground friends that I don’t know about.” She pulled me closer and felt our lips touch. It took all the restraint to pull away to continue our conversation.

                “I’m pretty sure you don’t know the half of it!” I laughed as so did she, than I looked at my watch, noticing it was 8:00 pm. “Time to go…”

The restaurant was crowded. People waited in line outside, as we made our way around there in contempt bodies. I smiled, knowing that I did a smart action by getting reservations the day before. I grabbed Zoe’s waist and stepped to the counter where two young girls in black uniforms stood, conversating. They turned around with enthusiasm in their eyes.

                “Hello.” The first girl with fake blonde hair, stated. “Anything I can get for you?” She smiled. I felt Zoe’s hand tighten around my arm.

                “We have reservations…” She sounded cold. I looked at her and smiled a bit, but she remained with the same content face, and looked back at the waitresses. “Name: Roux.” The waitresses looked at one another and back at a list sitting in front of them on the wood table.

                “I see, right this way, Mr. and Mrs. Roux.” I silently laughed while the waitress with the fake blonde hair showed us to a private room. I pushed the closest chair for Zoe as she sat down. I took the seat to her left. “Enjoy…” Spoke the waitress, while glaring at Zoe, and walked out.

                “I’m surprised you didn’t correct her on your name.” I laughed aloud this time.

                “I enjoy it.” She smiled while I shifted an eyebrow. “I’m also surprised I didn’t kill those fake blondes, also.” She laughed and I followed suit.

                “I’m guessing I know what they were thinking about me?” I questioned. By the look on her face, I was correct. She changed the subject.

                “So, what does this friend of yours do? You could give me a bit of details…” She asked, placing her glass away from her.

                “Well, to start off with, his name is Christofer; he’s from Sweden and a vampire, like us.”

                “That so much explains why he had us meet him in a restaurant.” Her sarcasm protested. I shrugged it off.

                “Yup.” Was all I could say when a familiar scent triggered me. He was here.

                “Hey!” Shouted a man, fairly sized with short brown spiked hair, wearing a suit jacket with jeans. His smile was crooked and too big for his face. Christofer…

                I stood up to greet my friend and felt Zoe rise.

                “Nice to see you, Chris. It’s been far too long, friend.” I shook his hand. “Chris, I would like you to meet my love, Zoe Albridge.” He glared at her and smiled.

                “An Albridge! That’s not the same…” Zoe interrupted.

                “No… that was my sister.” I felt her aura of sadness.

                “Oh, I’m so sorry. It’s just I don’t know everyone in the Albridge family.” He grabbed her hand and gave it a light kiss. I glared. He responded by putting his hand down and bowed. “It’s a pleasure Madam Zoe.” I motioned for him to sit while I pulled Zoe’s chart back out.

                “Now why exactly am I here?” He asked, jokingly. I felt Zoe’s gaze upon mine.

                “Have you ever heard of Souterraines naturelles?” She questioned back. I felt his cold stare upon the oak table setting.

                “Why… exactly are you asking, Madam?” He glanced at her. I felt myself answer in her place.

                “Venetia is here, looking for a friend of ours. Olivia Hurst. I know you must know something…”

                “Hurst… Varanese Firmani… She must have changed her name…” He placed his hands on the table.

                “Varanese? I said Olivia…” Zoe paused. “That is Olivia?” Christofer nodded.

“Centuries ago. Varanese used to rule the Souterraines naturelles… Venetia Firmani was her sister…” I saw Zoe stiffen. “And also right hand, practically. I remember when they invaded my village in Sweden. The people had no idea, who or what they were. They killed all the villagers, burned them to pieces, yet Varanese never consented… It was Venetia. I remember my life being spared, but sadly, not my friends… or family. I heard that Varanese had run off. Which to me, a smart accomplished move and Venetia took over…” We all sat in silence, thinking, pondering, about what our mind compelled, and what we had just heard, from quite an old friend…

Tales Chp.7 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Tales

                The woman’s face sped into my mind as I got back home, noticing Zoe’s car back in the garage and Olivia’s scent inside the house. I quickly open the door to see Zoe sitting in a chair, turning her head to where I came in. I gave a fake smile, wondering if I should tell her while Olivia is here.

                “Say it.” She said aloud. Olivia looked straight down at her feet, as Zoe’s eyes burned into my body.

                “Venetia…” The only thing I could say. Olivia stiffened even more and Zoe’s head whipped to her friend’s body, still staring at the ground.

                “What did she say?” Zoe asked, still staring at Olivia.

                “She’s looking for Olivia…” The words could hardly come out of my mouth. Olivia looked at me with the pettiest hate. Zoe stood up.

                “Olivia, what and who the hell is she?” Her voice was aggravated.

                “Just a person I knew before.” I felt the tension she felt from her facial expression.

                “That doesn’t answer my question… Who the hell is she.” I saw Zoe’s arm splitting the frame of the chair she was sitting on. I gently took her hand off it, and put the chair on the other side of me, feeling her burning gaze at me, than back at Olivia.

                “It was so long ago.” She got up and walked in front of Zoe. “She was from an old clan… that I knew about…” She looked back down.

                “Souterraines naturelles…” I added. Zoe and Olivia stared at me. “An old Italian group, if I am presume… They are known for the harsh punishment of mankind and immortal souls… They use sacrifices to please gods, who they think turned them into the hellish creatures they are… Vampires.” I concluded.

                “Then why are they looking for you, Olivia? Did you do something to piss them off?” Zoe’s anger raged back at Olivia.

                “I don’t know! Can I please leave? If there’s nothing better to do than yell at my freaking face, than I think I can go…” She turned to walk out the door. I waited for Zoe to grab her, but she remained in the same place, watching her friend run out the door….

Caché Chp.6 Sunday, Jun 7 2009

Caché

                The remainder of her scent clung to my clothes as I heard her car drive out of the driveway. I went by the window to see the back tail-lights disappear into the trees. I knew the one place she needed to go, to find answers to Olivia’s sudden leave, Olivia’s own house, leaving me to encounter my own thoughts.

                I searched around the living room to see if there were any traces of tidying I could do. Nothing… Absolutely spotless from when Olivia cleaned. I walked over to the fridge to check the supply, noticing there was one last glass. Might as well go restock.

                I felt the weightlessness of my sprinting throughout my body as I let me instinct take over. I was headed east, what seemed like my sense of direction when finally a scent caught my mind, a lonely doe sitting in the middle of a patch. Speeding, I caught up, setting the glasses down on a heavy root. I peered from behind a tree to see that it had not noticed the slight clang of sound from the glasses, or my body.

                The doe sat, nibbling at a tall weed as I set up my position points, the neck being the main one, while I felt the other arteries beating to the rhythm of its pacing heart. I made my stance behind the tree, still memorizing the doe’s frantic escape routes when the scent hit my senses, making me drown out the sense of the fatal animal. The smell of burning and sweet drowned everything in my mind, making it caress everything and turn around to notice the deer was on the ground, with death already creeping and a young woman staring at me, smiling.

                “Hello.” She still continued to smile. Her voice sharp, sweet, with an Italian accent that I noticed off the bat.

                “Can I help you?” I asked. Her voice boomed as she laughed. I just continued to stare, noticing her clothing, handmade. Her hair was up in a tight bun while her feet bare nothing.

                “I usually do not have another’s ask if I could help them.” She continued to laugh. I find nothing funny in my practically rhetorical question. “I am Venetia. I am sure we have met before? Well may not have met since all I did was draw in your scent. I am the leader of the Souterraines naturalles. Have you heard?” I questioned myself, only remembering the name once.

                “I believe I have. That was a long time ago though, back when I was in France…” I looked up at her unchanged expression as she turned her head to peer at me. A split moment, she was directly in front of me.

                “I can imagine that you may be able to help me.” She placed her hand on my shoulder. “It depends on which way.” She smiled. I twisted to find myself about 10 feet from her. She lowered her arm but stands in the same place. “I see you already have a mate.” She laughed again. “But that’s not what I was looking for, young…?”

                “Chancellor…” I corrected her blank.

                “Chancellor. Well I am looking for a certain someone. I am not sure what she goes by now-a-days. But I smell her scent upon your clothing.” I felt a sudden draw. Zoe…”

                “Are you talking about Zoe Albridge?” I ask, she laughs and shakes her head.

                “No Chancellor. I would not call upon a Albridge. Maybe you know a last name of Hurst?” The relief strikes again, 10 fold.

                “Olivia…” I whisper.

                “Olivia? Is that what she goes by now. Well then, yes. Do you know where I could find her?” She asks, leaning up against the tree. I feel my mind shouting don’t tell her.

                “I am not sure. She randomly comes around Zoe’s house…” I quickly say, not wanting to say the wrong sentence.

                “Zoe, meaning your mate, the Albridge. Well if don’t particularly know, you come in no further use. Thank you, Chancellor. Maybe we will meet again someday…” She ran into the forest. I still stare ahead, feeling the burning and sweet sense leave my mind, then back at the dead doe, laying out in the patch. Forgetting about it, I run back to Zoe’s house, feeling the emotion of startlement right away…

Olivia Chp.5 Monday, Mar 9 2009

  The brown and white half stoned house appeared through the thick forest. Zoe jumped out of the car as soon as I shut it off. Another car was also parked in the driveway. A blue Honda Accord.

  The door lay open as I walked inside. Zoe’s scent filled my mind. Everything in the house was cleaned and with a slight scent of lemon from the dining room prop of a table.

  “Hey guys!” Olivia appeared out of a room holding a Aeropostale bag. I set my coat on the couch. Zoe and I both mumbled a hello. “What’s wrong?” She questioned. Zoe answered.

  “New threats…” She replied. Olivia’s face went blank.

  “Can’t be. At least not so soon…” She shook her head, folded the bag in her hands, grabbed my coat off the couch, sped into my room and back.

  “Well, it is…” Zoe looked around her house and fixed an antique on the fireplace then stared into it. I came beside her and so did Olivia.

  “Do you know any clans, Olivia?” I asked. She stiffened.

  “Why?” She asked and went to the front window.

   ”Because maybe you might know the scent…” I motioned to Zoe and she placed her hand on Olivia’s shoulder. They both went blank as all I could do was watch. After a second, Olivia shook her arm away from Zoe.

  “I have to go…” She ran out the door, forgetting we were even there…

Accueil Chp.4 Friday, Jan 30 2009

Accueil

Wind flew past once again. The forest, the beach, and the quiet condensed behind. Light On by David Cook blasted in the Miata’s speakers. More forests surrounded the small car.

   “Let’s go hunting.” I suggested, knowing she would abide to say yes.

   “Sure, but let’s make sure no one is around…” I parked the car on the side, closest to the forest. Zoe closed her eyes. “No one.” She smiled then she zoomed into the forest.

                                                                              ~~~<>~~~
  The elk’s silence retreat into death as its body followed suit. Warm liquid flowed evenly in my mouth and my eyes adjusted. As soon as I was sure the blood was dried, I carried the dried carcass into the deep forest. Zoe’s fill, next to it.
   “Now…” She smiled then her facial expression drew blank.
   “What?” Then I smelled it. Vampires. I looked around, yet to see anything.
   “Let’s get out of here… this might be there territory.” We ran and jumped into the car.
   “It can’t be. There scent didn’t show up on any trace of the forest except when the wind blew. It wasn’t there’s… They must be passing by.” I stated, speeding the car down the road.
   “What did it smell like to you?” She asked. I thought back. Really just a sweet scent, just like any vampires, except a distinct burning smell. “Chancellor, did you smell the same thing as me?” She put her hand on my arm and I smelled the scent. Sweet and burned intertwined.
   “Yes…” I continued to look ahead.
   “Obviously not from around here.”
   “Is anyone?”
  “You know what I mean, Chance.” She rolled her eyes. She was right. The distinct smell couldn’t have been from here…
   “Then who?
   “I don’t know. I’ve never smelled something quite like it…”
   “Me either.” I tightened my hands on the steering wheel and pondered my thoughts. Are these the new threats?
Clans Chp.3 Thursday, Jan 29 2009
Clans
   The morning sun shinned high above the thrashing waves. We sat by the waves as they splashed ashore.
   “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Zoe looked at it. I looked at her.
   “Yeah.” I answered. She put her head on my shoulder. “So, what do you think is going to happen next?” She put her head up.
   “Anything really…” She sighed and got up. “There are clans around the world that would love to even hear about this. But, who knows what could happen next.” She stuck out her hand and I also got up.
   “What clans do you know about?” I asked enthusiastically.
   “Well, some of the most famous is like my family. The Albridge’s. Another is the Ingrijitorii, The Keepers in Romanian. They guard the secrets. I’m sure there are other famous families in America. Sangsues, as you know of, Guardians in UK, naturlles, and souterraines naturlles in Italy. Shu-Won in China. And I’m sure a few more in the world that I forgot.”
   “I think we should head back.” I looked back at her.
   “Yeah, who knows what Olivia could have done to the house…” She put her hand on her head. I laughed and kissed her forehead.
   “Let’s go”
